This month´s lunch is at Mangiafuoco Italian Ristorante, Plaza Vapor 4, Palma. It is hidden away off San Magi near St Catalina. Park on San Magi towards the Avenidas. The Plaza is on the right hand side going towards Avenidas in a little square. 1pm as always. €20 members €25 guests. 3 courses with agua. Alcohol to be paid on ordering as an extra.

A little about what our guest speaker will talk on below….Tatiana Abend.

What I’d like to talk about is my new approach to nutrition consulting, namely, the REAL reason why diets don’t work. The answer is surprising!

Closing the gap between where you are and what your true ‘health vision’ is requires going where no diets (and most health professionals, for that matter) do not go. The health industry today, for all the good things about it, neglects to acknowledge and support that each one of us can be a master of our own well-being and take back the control that is indeed ours. Forming and changing habits for good is a series of steps, ones your Health Coach can take you through as you set the goal and set the pace to get there. The winner is the individual, and all the joy and pride as well….

If I could briefly touch upon this up and coming profession in the health field today, I believe I would truly open up new thoughts for the ladies in the group. As I incorporate this method into my business, I am seeing brilliant results, more than ever before. I’m seeing clients off medication, quitting alcohol, losing weight at their own pace…

Below is a little about our guest speaker Iris Austere.

Introduction to MET Meridian Energy Techniques

Iris is giving a short introduction to Meridian Energy Techniques. This time around it will be the tapping technique. This technique can be applied in case of any discomfort (i.e. anger, sadness, worry, low self-esteem, all kinds of fear, etc.), even old baggage can be dissolved. Tapping is easy to learn and you can use it in almost any situation as an ideal self-help tool.
Our emotions are a compass to show us if we are on the right track or if we had better take charge and change course. All emotions are valuable, even the ones that at first feel negative. However, if we fail to dissolve these negative emotions after they conveyed the message they tend to stick around and often hinder us in our growth and advancement. Tapping is so easy to apply that for all new experiences we now are in charge of whether we carry around more emotional baggage or whether we dissolve it and gain emotional freedom. (Regarding old or deep emotional impacts it is advisable to get professional assistance.)
Based on the over 5000-year-old Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and according to A. Einstein’s discoveries in 1920, that everything, including our bodies, consists of energy, MET makes use of this knowledge by tapping specific meridian points, through which our energy system is relieved of interference dynamisms, and gets stimulated and harmonised. Thereby a hormonal change takes place resulting in a transformed state of feelings and awareness

Iris´ aim in the introduction is to inform us about the basics of the technique and a bit of its background. Whoever is interested in going into detail can then sign up for a one-day-seminar in March or individual coaching sessions.
Iris has been successfully practicing on the island for over two years and her office is in Llucmajor. If you are interested in more detailed information you can visit her website: www.iris-austere.com or give her a call 971 661 484. Individual sessions by appointment only.

We are all multifaceted individuals.
My life is not like yours, nor is yours like another’s.

Illness is usually the result of an accumulation of factors all working together to make us feel unhappy and unbalanced. When one is experiencing a situation it can be very difficult to see the whole picture and sometimes by doing what we believe is best at the time we can make things worse in the long run.

Often physical illness is a symptom of mental torment and unrest. In our society we are expected to ‘get over’ things quickly and quietly. We are all so busy with so many demands on us that there is rarely the time to deal with our own ‘stuff’ and so it gets buried out of sight. There it can begin to fester and, as we work harder and harder to ignore it, our bodies may become stressed beyond tolerance and begin to breakdown.

By viewing you as the multidimensional individual you are, we can work together to seek out the source of your unbalance and resolve it using your own healing abilities supported and focussed by homeopathy and modern mind programming techniques to heal you wholly & completely, allowing you to live the happy and productive life you deserve.

A little insight into Dr Gillian Howell our guest speaker.

Gillian started her healing career as a nurse in Belfast during ‘The Troubles’ where she specialised in the very prevalent areas of orthopaedics, head injuries and cardiac complications. She later went on to qualify as a midwife and a health visitor. During this time she also worked in the field on oncology (cancer) –a disease which had become out of control over this difficult period. The hospital was so overwhelmed that both complimentary and alternative medicines were welcomed and Gillian witnessed many amazing incidences of courage, faith and love. Up to this period Gillian genuinely believed that there was a pill for everything and if in doubt, cut it out! With her mind now opened there started a life long quest to explore new ways of healing, fortunately supported by her husband’s career which allowed her to experience many unusual places and beliefs. This led to the study of the mind as well as the body in the disciplines of hypnotherapy and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP).

Running along side these investigations, Gillian worked as a Health Visitor specialising in family therapy, relationships and parenting using many of the alternative skills in the firm belief that happy parents make happy children who grow up to be happy, healthy individuals and so the cycle continues. Gillian also has three children of her own and adopts a very practical approach to the challenges of family life.

As she progressed she began to view people as multifaceted individuals recognising the important connection between emotions and thoughts as well as the physical being and outside world. Thus different approaches from sensory, such as aromatherapy, to psychological can all have beneficial effects.

When her third child went to secondary school, Gillian had more time for intense study and embarked on a new career in homeopathy –an intense 5 year course where she was accepted onto the homeopathic register in 2004.

Gillian now lives in Mallorca and practices in Portals. She uses all of her disciplines to tailor-make the best regime possible for cure.

As a new patient expect to set aside about 90 minutes for the initial consultation with visits thereafter taking 30-60 minutes. A typical consultation period requires 2-4 visits, 2-4 weeks apart.
